Sports Therapy in Gilbert

Have you been working diligently on your exercises, but feel like you are not progressing as you feel you should? Is it tough doing squats, stair steps, lunges, or other activities that require you to generate force from your lower body?

In this video, Dr. Keith Lavender, DC, BCAO is re- testing a patient after performing Advanced Muscle Integration Technique Method (AMIT) treatment, where he found weak gluteus maximus muscles. These are one of the largest muscles that span across the hip joint and support the sacrum and the femur. The glutes also affect the low back, knees and ankles. Strong glutes help to stabilize the pelvis and support the hips when bending and straightening up, doing squats, climbing stairs, rock climbing, and running.  Strong glute muscles reduce stress on the low back.

The AMIT Method is an advanced technique used to test, identify, and treat muscles and muscle groups that have been “shut off” by the central nervous system – the body’s way to minimize stress and injury, much like a circuit breaker in a house.  When muscles have been shut off, the body will recruit other muscles to compensate. This can set up a cascade of issues from muscle and joint pain to weakness, imbalances, and potential for future injuries.
