The results consistently show increased serious health events - as much as 50% increased risk of death and 125% increased risk from cardiovascular events such as chest pain and heart attacks. What can you do -- Your job requires being at a desk all day?  First, it's important to keep your eye on your daily activities and the amount of time you sit. Movement is life and even leisurely movement can be profound. A few suggestions:

-- Stand while talking on the phone or when you go to lunch.  

-- Have walking meetings.

-- Get a desk that allows you to sit or to stand while you work or a less expensive alternative is adding a raised desk to your desktop to hold your screen and keyboard.

-- Put your workstation above a treadmill so you can walk as you work.

-- Get regular spinal care to help reduce and remove the stress from your spine and nervous system

Being aware of how much or how little you move is the beginning. Look for ways to move throughout the day. If you are driving stop frequently to get out and walk and stretch.
