Brain Health Assessment

Is Your Brain Healthy?

Have you tested your brain health lately? Call about our July special!

After all, you regularly test your blood pressure, your cholesterol, your blood work and your physical health.   But why aren’t you testing your brain function with a simple test?

With the devastating effects of Alzheimer’s, dementia, concussions and other brain-related conditions on quality of life, it’s more important than ever to know your brain health.  These are deadly diseases that take a big toll on its victims and those closest to them.   And there are no known effective treatments, drugs or surgeries to reverse or cure these illnesses.

The good news is that there are markers and blood indicators that can help monitor your brain’s cognitive status and guide you toward lifestyle changes that can help you prevent mental decline.

Dr. Dale Bredesen, MD talks about the new hope in preventing and reversing destructive brain conditions.  He reveals that mental decline is not a single condition but is driven by multiple mechanisms that manifest with different symptoms in people at different ages.  Dr. Bredesen says “all are dramatically influenced by imbalances in 36 metabolic factors that can trigger ‘downsizing’ of the brain.”

One of the key markers for brain health is Omega-3 and Omega -6 balance.  Your brain is 60% fat, and most of that is from the Omega-3 fatty acid called DHA. DHA promotes new neuron growth that should continue throughout adulthood. Omega-3 and Omgea-6 fatty acids also regulate your metabolism and inflammation throughout your body.

A recent study by Harvard School of Public Health linked these fatty acid imbalances to over 50 diseases that contribute to 96,000 preventable deaths per year. Omega-3 deficiency is associated with attention deficient and behavioral problems, concussion resilience, chronic pain and inflammation, short term memory loss, and risk of dementia and Alzheimer’s.

Without measuring and tracking your blood markers and fatty acid balance, you are in the dark when it comes to the health of your cells, which are the foundational building blocks of the brain and the entire body.

The health assessment, termed a Cognoscopy by Dr. Bredesen, measures and analyzes the multiple blood markers that can trigger brain and body decline. The BrainSpan test is the part of that assessment that specifically measures the balance of your Omega 3 and Omega 6 fatty acids with a simple blood test and a cognitive assessment.

Do you know your numbers and your risk for brain-related disease and illness?
