How to Exercise to Burn Belly Fat

Belly fat is bad.  Abdominal fat produces inflammatory molecules, and high inflammation levels in your body can trigger a wide range of systemic diseases linked with metabolic syndrome including type 2 diabetes, heart disease, strokes, and other chronic diseases.

Thus, toning and firming your abdominal area is vital to your good health.  Besides aesthetics and reducing your disease risk, having strong core muscles will also help you to support your spine, maintain better posture, conduct everyday movements more easily and safely, and sustain strong balance and stability. Gilbert AZ Chiropractic Wellness Center can help to guide you to a more optimal level of health.

Keys for Fat-Busting, Effective Exercise

Do high-intensity interval training (HIIT). Exercising in shorter bursts with rest periods in between burns more fat than exercising continuously for an entire session.  Running on a treadmill won’t help your waistline much.

HIIT is also extremely time efficient. When you’re doing HIIT, you only need 20 minutes, two to three times a week to lose more weight than traditional cardio. To reap maximum results, you need to work out at maximum intensity, with rest periods in between spurts.

Add strength training to your program. Turn your strength training session into a high-intensity workout simply by slowing down your movements.

Instead of doing just the standard sit up, add core-strengthening exercises like planking, which engages a wider range of muscle groups, including your arms, legs, glutes, back, pelvic muscles, and obliques. Work in functional exercises using a stability ball.   Your body will have to engage a wide range of core muscles to stabilize itself on the ball.

One more thing: in order to really get "six-pack" abs, you have to shed fat.
