How Does Inflammation Affect Heart Health?

Inflammation and poor blood circulation are at the root of many illnesses and diseases today.  They have been linked to arthritis, heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, asthma, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and muscle and joint pain.

What is inflammation?   Inflammation in a healthy body is the normal and effective response that facilitates healing. When the body is injured or ill, the lymphatic (immune) system springs into action, bringing white blood cells to the area of concern with increased blood flow.

But when the immune system is overactive and begins attacking healthy body tissues, chronic inflammatory conditions can contribute to a range of health issues.

There is good news though!  At Foresight Chiropractic, we recommend three natural, non-invasive ways to help the body reduce inflammation.   These include eating a healthy diet, receiving regular Atlas Orthogonal chiropractic care, and utilizing BEMER vascular therapy as part of your inflammation-fighting lifestyle.

The evidence is clear that a diet of lectin-free, anti-inflammatory foods can help to regulate the immune system and positively impact the way inflammation affects our bodies and our lives.

According to Dr. Steven Gundry, MD, famed cardiac surgeon turned diet and nutrition specialist, a protective mechanism in plants can actually cause inflammation and digestive issues in the body.   In fruits and vegetables, lectin is a protein that binds to the sugar molecule.  Dr. Gundry recommends avoiding lectins that may be wreaking havoc on your health. He maintains that by eliminating lectins,  which are found in nightshades, grains and dairy, for example, you can lower inflammation, lose weight and boost your health.   There are ways to prepare these foods to significantly reduce the lectin content in these foods.
