Finding Migraine Relief
Spinal misalignment can contribute to migraines and headaches. The Atlas (also known as the C1) vertebra is the top bone of the spine, and this little two-ounce bone plays a crucial role in supporting the head and allowing its movement. Shaped like a ring, the atlas enables the nodding motion of the head and connects the skull to the spine. Its proper alignment is essential for overall spinal health and nervous system function. It is like the top link in a chain--whichever way the Atlas (C1) is tilted, the rest of the spine is affected. If the Atlas has been misaligned from birth, trauma, falls or injuries, the entire spine can be misaligned.
